About Bedfordshire

Bedfordshire is a county of contrasting attractions; with areas steeped in historic significance, progressive industrial towns and gentle hills, valleys and rural landscapes.

The village of Elstow in the north of the county was the birthplace of John Bunyan, preacher and author of 'Pilgrim's Progress', which he wrote whilst imprisoned in Bedford jail. The county is also home to two magnificent stately homes, Woburn Abbey, the home of the Duke of Bedford, and Wrest Park House.

With varying areas of urban development, rich history and countryside, there is much to explore in Bedfordshire. Use the links below for more information on the county. Alternatively, try searching for a district, town or parish within Bedfordshire.
