Buckinghamshire

County in England

Over a third of Buckinghamshire is covered by the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This pastoral, scenic county is the country residence of the Prime Minister.

Buckinghamshire is well-known for its paper and furniture industries that took rise from the numerous woodlands, particularly beech trees, which grew in the area. Burnham Beeches, one of the best examples of ancient woodland in Britain, is a popular visitor attraction.

Buckinghamshire has also been home to many famous writers, including Roald Dahl, John Milton and G K Chesterton. The homes of Roald Dahl and John Milton are now listed for their historic significance and have become museums to their life and work.

It is a county rich in history and lush countryside, and also home to the youngest of England's 'new towns', Milton Keynes. Use the links below for more information on the county. Alternatively, search for a district, town or parish within Buckinghamshire.
