About East Boldre

East Boldre is a picturesque village in the New Forest National Park.  It lies about three miles south of Beaulieu, home to the National Motor Museum, and two miles west of the historic village of Bucklers Hard.

The Parish of East Boldre encloses a large area of heathland which is crisscrossed by many hiking paths and pony tracks. There are over thirty Bronze Age barrows within its boundaries, most of which - in common with others in the New Forest - have been investigated.

In this Parish is Hatchet Pond, a favorite haunt for tourist and naturalist alike, and the runways and roads of Beaulieu Aerodrome, built during WW2 are now cycle paths and meeting place for model aircraft enthusiasts.

East Boldre was home to the world's fifth flying school, which came into existence in 1910. The buildings were later used as the officers mess during WW2 and the only remaining building is now used as the village hall.

East Boldre is off the beaten track and is blessed with an excellent pub, a village shop, a garage and miles of narrow lanes which are ideal for cyclists.
