This illustrious old country house has a long history of entertaining in style dating all the way back to a son-in-law of Henry I. Although primarily a family home we have a 900-year history of making guests feel welcome and we strive to make sure every visit has a special sense of occasion . br / br / br / br / Our private gardens are amongst the best in North Devon particularly the walled rose garden which is formally laid out and a riot of colour and scent in season. The pleasure grounds some 20 acres in total comprise woodland walks a picturesque duck flighting lake and a 250-year-old horse chestnut tree. We also maintain a productive walled vegetable and cut flower garden and a recently planted cider and perry orchard - produce from which regularly makes an appearance in our food. The grounds are ideal for walking off a big breakfast and finding your sense of calm. br / br / br / br / So much more than a comfortable night s sleep and full English breakfast we promise you a memorable break whether it s a special occasion or just a hard-earned weekend in the countryside.
